Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty Gives White New Removal Spell In March of Otherworldly Light

July 2024 · 2 minute read

Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and GamesRadar, check out a new white flexible removal spell from Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty — March of Otherworldly Light!

March of Otherworldly Light is an instant-speed answer to troublesome creatures, artifacts, and enchantments. While it can be expensive to deal with larger permanents, it can become cheaper at the cost of extra cards in your hand.

As an additional cost to cast this spell, you may exile any number of white cards from your hand. This spell costs 2 less to cast for each card exiled this way.

Exile target artifact, creature, or enchantment with mana value X or less.

Answering cheap threats will be ideal for this card, as one-drops only take two mana to remove, but the fact that it scales gives it plenty of utility. If you have a bunch of mana, you can always answer pretty much anything on the battlefield (not including planeswalkers). However, if you’re pinched on mana or need to play multiple spells in a turn, March of Otherworldly Light can cost 2 less for each white card you exile when casting it. This new take on pitch spells presents an interesting puzzle and shows a more balanced version of a classic card like Force of Will.

So what do you think of March of Otherworldly Light? Is this card the real deal in Standard? What about its viability in older formats? Let us know what you think in the comments.
