Why Choose Alzar School & Gap?
Alzar School & Gap is a leadership school for students of a variety of ages. Our high school semester program began in 2012. Alzar Gap was established in 2018 to expand the population of students who could be impacted by Alzar School's mission of building leaders who positively impact the world. We offer programs in some of the world's most stunning and wild locations, such as the Wild & Scenic Salmon River and Chile's region of Patagonia. In our programs, students can descend whitewater rivers (such as the Payette, Owyhee, Salmon, Baker, Simpson, Paloma, Manihuales, and more). Students practice leadership through the framework of our "10 Elements of Leadership" curriculum, and have the chance to earn valuable training and certifications in wilderness first aid, swiftwater rescue, and Leave No Trace. For more than 15 years, Alzar School has provided amazing experiences in the USA and Chile, most notably a semester program for high school 10th and 11th grade students. It was founded by Sean and Kristin Bierle in 2004. With campuses in Cascade, Idaho and Coyhaique, Chile, students benefit from extended expeditions in the backcountry and time in community living.
