BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Boise Police have shut down a Portland-area shoplifting ring after employees caught the suspects in the act, BPD said Tuesday.
Last week, Boise Police received a call from an employee reporting a theft in progress at a retail store in the area of E. Gowen and S. Eisenman Roads.
Officers say they recognized the description of the suspects and the suspect vehicle from a previous shoplifting call near Milwaukee Street.
Prior to officers arrival on Eisenman, the officers say the suspects abandoned their vehicle, a rental car with Oregon plates, and fled the area on foot. Officers searched the vehicle and found approximately $2,400 worth of merchandise recently stolen from the nearby stores.
Officers also found evidence of items being shipped from Idaho to an address in the Portland area, as well as evidence the suspects are connected to shoplifting crimes in other cities in Oregon and southern Idaho.
Officers gathered evidence and soon located the three female suspects at a hotel near the Boise Airport. Officers found the females with two males believed to be accomplices in transporting the females and transporting and concealing stolen merchandise.
Boise Police Gang detectives found all five suspects are documented members of close associates of the Rollin' 60's Crips gamg out of the Portland area.
